I have recently been fortunate enough to have three pieces of work accepted to be part of the Society of Graphic Fine Arts 101st Annual open exhibition at The Mall Gallery in London. There were two textile artists included in the show, Emily Tull and myself. We were both over the moon to represent embroidered work alongside fabulous works in pencil, ink, watercolour and oils.

I spent a really enjoyable day helping to hang the exhibition with other members of the group. The SGFA has members across the country so it was a wonderful opportunity to meet some of them and understand what is involved in hanging such a large exhibition in London (approximately 350 artworks).

Attending the preview event the next day I was utterly astonished to be awarded the Presidents Award for my piece ‘On a Mission’ – a bittern. The award was presented by the amazing Adebanji Alade (Hon SGFA).

One of my proudest moments, and something that could only have been topped by my mother still being here to hear the news! Thank you SGFA!

Below are three clips, the first featuring my piece, the second the ‘Best in Show’ winner Jamie Eade with his stunningly realistic pencil drawing. Finally an overview of the whole show plus the award winning pieces.
