'The last New Moon' - Slender billed curlew.
Inspired by the book 'Orison for a Curlew' by Horatio Clare. The slender billed curlew is almost certainly extinct, Horatio's book documents his travels along its migratory route, meeting the people trying to save the environments the bird depended on. The bird stands in shallow water above his reflection, this reflection is made up of maps of the areas and countries that have caused the birds almost certain demise.
In latin the birds name is Numenius tenuirostris, the numenius means'new moon' and the pieces title questions whether this bird has seen its last new moon?
